Steve Chapman makes several excellent points about conservatives' impossible expectations on immigration enforcement.
http://townhall.com/Columnists/Column.aspx?ContentGuid=74911a4b-bf89-49f6-88c0-29ae25eb14c5&page=full&comments=trueToday, I'm going to ridicule all the comments made against him.
"Well it may be difficult to keep our borders solid, but it will be even harder to pay for the illegals benefits they are already sucking out of our economy." -- Marc of CANo, Marc. It's economically unfeasible to line the border with troops, disrupting the human traffic that benefits the economy. Why pay to hurt ourselves?
How about if we just take a stab at enforcing the law and deprting the illegals ??? We can never get rid of all of them but we can sure get rid of quite a few." -- karoden
Fine. Go hunt yourself some Mexicans. You must not have anything better to do.
"Is trying the same arguement all pro-illegal groups and our sop Representatives use.Gee,its just too hard, they will find a way around the fence, and on ,and on.I get so sick of hearing it!Build the d--- fence signed into law and more of it! Put our military on our border, not Iraq's!!Enforce the laws on the books! It can be done.I for one am tired of donating to Bushes favorite charity, mexicans!!!" -- Reenie
Ever since Pat Buchanan found out I have a Mexican girlfriend, conservatives everywhere have been trying to deport her. I guess I can work two jobs and take care of grandpa until I find another date. No sense in trying to persuade people who see government as the solution to their problems. Oh well, I guess I'm better off ignored by my own kind than by liberals.
Btw, I'm the border patrol for Heaven. GTFO, and don't come back without an invite.
You really have some nerve to tell us to pull our troops out of Iraq. You need to be on the DNC forums with the rest of your racist kind.
"Hey, pal-- the solution to the ILLEGAL invasion is NOT to admit defeat-- it is to insist that we change course and enforce our laws before it becomes too late to save America!...I have now ineluctably concluded that Presidente Jorge is indubitably TRULY dense!" -- lodestar
You mean 'undoubtedly', moron. You're so mad that you can't even spell right, and you want to micromanage 300 million people? Do you see why no one wants you in charge now?
Oh no...we're going to lose by invasion! We're all going to speak Mexican and eat burritos! The horror! The humanity! How does a sweaty Mexican mowing grass end up with Donald Trump's towers? Hehehehe, stupid kid.
"Reality is these people broke into our country. The American people didn't invite them. They may come to improve their lives...so what? Improving the lives of foreign nationals is not our responsibility. But it's become our burden." -- Joyce
By "The American People" you mean "The United States Government." I just want that to be clear, because when emotionally-driven political s***starters like yourself talk, you're so blinded by your own ignorance that you mislead children into believing what you're saying.
Unless you can establish what constitutional authority you have to regulate human traffic, then don't spew this poor-me nonsense about immigration. No one is making you network with Mexicans. Your employer is not forcing you to keep quiet about Mexicans working for your company. Your problem appears to be with shared economic responsibility, and that's fine.
If you don't like the burden of paying for other people's education, food stamps, and welfare, then go live somewhere you don't have to. I don't have that problem because I think I can change things for the better.
"I don't give a royal rip WHY they come - they are NOT wanted, or needed. GO HOME!" -- Well, now
Well aren't you~ persuasive? This person must be the smartest man in America. He knows what's best for our country. Just ask him.
So, if we shouldn't bother creating/enforcing immigration law because people will just break it anyway, what other (currently illegal) behavior should we ignore? Murder? Theft? Tax evasion? Have we ever had a law on the books that was followed absolutely?" -- Virginia Lady
Right...just because I don't support regulating human traffic, I must~ be an anarchist. Yep, you caught me. No, actually I'm making fun of you for assuming things.
Steve Chapman is often right in his comments, but on this he is certainly wrong! Illegals find it much easier to come to the US than to work for the reforms in their own country that are needed to make it a land of opportunity.
"Our government's unwillingness to enforce our laws, to build fences, to find (in schools, hospitals, jails) the illegals and deport them is the problem. The benefits hanging out there for them to take are like bananas to monkeys -- irresistable.
In addition, our Christian leaders seem to think that we in the US are obliged to accept this invasion and welcome "the stranger" (if only it were one stranger and not millions and millions pushing us aside). Forget the cost that the middle class pays while bearing the burden of making this country work; we're supposed to smile and hand them the knives to cut our throats." -- Yooper
Yooper, I can relate to you on this one. You see, political whiners like yourself expect me to smile and hand you the government to cut our throats. You want to obstruct immigration, and you don't care what human traffic does to the economy. You don't care that our nation is already interdependent on this human traffic. You don't care if some illegal immigrant somewhere takes care of an old man who can't walk to the car anymore. All you care about is what you want, and screw everyone who doesn't share your opinion.
"How stupid can one person be to put such bunk into print and attach their name to it, forever to invite ridicule? Has this author ever studied the history of the human race he would dare to comment upon? Populations have been controlled throughout history; people have been kept in and people have been kept out of respective national borders. This guy is just another who desires the end of "nations" and attempts to rationalize in support of same." -- Charlie
To answer your first question, you're not a writer. That's why you don't attach your name to the bunk~ you write. You're dying to comment that I do the same thing, but Charlie, I don't get paid to yell at you.
Aside from your desperate comment on Steve Chapman's character, you fail to make a valid argument as to why I should support enforcing any~ immigration policy. I don't care what Rome did about immigration; those pederasts are dead.
And furthermore, don't vote people into office if you want to micromanage. Just buy a McDonalds, manage a bunch of teenagers, and find out why no one likes you.
"And no, they aren't in the fields. Only ONE(1) percent of illegals are in the fields. The rest are taking jobs needed by and wanted by Legal citizens.." -- onceamarine
Okay, kid, you just revealed your lack of understanding of how jobs are created. Congratulations; you get to be daddied.
#1. Jobs are not a finite resource.
#2. People create jobs which produce a profit for businesses, saving them either time or money. This is how people negotiate their salaries. It's all win-win.
#3. I'm rewarding you instead of punishing you by telling you this.
#4. Therefore, you are a stupid kid. You were never a marine. A marine would know better.
"After reading Chapman's article it suddenly came to me: We have been doing it wrong all along and this illegal alien problem can be fixed so easily. All we need to do is have a worse country here, than any other country in the world and nobody will want to come. Heck, most legal Americans will want to migrate out.
Impossible to achieve? Not at all, just implement this pending amnesty bill and it will not take very long at all to get there." -- LoveUS
Oh really! How long will it take, Mr. Prophet? Don't get froggy if you aren't going to leap. Your readers feel dissatisfied. You got so excited over the idea of America going to crap that you completely forgot that other conservatives hate that snot-nosed attitude and won't put up with it.
This is why I've been a hermit all my life. You people really are friggin stupid. I don't need your stupidity in my life. I might as well be trying to tell environmentalists that humanity isn't a threat to the environment. You're nothing but brainwashed dumbed down, government-educated simpletons just waiting to run this entire nation under the ground.
And when you do, all you'll know how to do is bring ME back to solve your problems.
-------------------------------------
Illegals have a very tough networking job ahead of them. So I don't see why anyone could conceive of them as a threat to the nation.
Conservatives appear to be motivated by the rule of law, and despite their irresponsible comments and poor argumentation, I will not hold it against these foolish kids. I will, however, demand absolute respect for the truth and consistency from them. If conservatives (who are supposed to oppose New Deal powers) do not stop wanting big government security that exiles millions of people and damages our economy, then I have no choice but to declare conservatism itself dead.
There's no reason to treat human traffic like terrorist activity! Conservatives are going to end up wasting tens of thousands of men to harm the economy. I'm glad Bush has better sense than this bunch.
