Matt Towery, Dick Morris, and Eileen McGann are waving the white flag.
In essence, they're right. You can drag a horse to water, but you can't make him drink. Liberals wants terrorism. Liberals want a violent middle east. These three sell-out republicans expect elected officials to put party politics above our immediate strategy in Iraq.
A local county chairman came into our republican meeting saying he voted to raise taxes because the democrats wouldn't budge on the budget. As long as Democrats can force Republicans into political expediency, spineless Republicans will turn their backs on their constituencies. Of course, the same is true vice versa.
The fact that Lindsey Graham (among others) has defected only proves one thing: our politicians don't trust their voter base to support them. In thick times, who do these republican defectors count on? No one.
Meanwhile, liberals (who are constantly amazed at how superior they are to republicans in every way, and you better know so) are capitalizing on the misguided priorities of the American public. Liberals could have gone along with the whole occupation. They could've said, "Women will have rights in Iraq once we're done." They could've said, "Iraq will come out of the third world." No. Liberals said, "We want national health care and open borders, and even if you give it to us, we're still~ going to stop this war."
What are liberals going to do when we have fully mechanical troops? Anyway, so why did liberals choose to be against the occupation of Iraq? Because they don't trust Bush, and they're not gonna trust Bush. Period. It's just like how Klansmen don't trust blacks. It's just like how criminals don't trust cops. They never will.
And I for one don't see why Bush should have to speak eloquently or be popular to do his job. Just what the heck would you do if you were president on 9/11? Why should we trust you~ more than Bush?
Dems and Repubs get replaced over and over in office every couple years. It's not because of what the politicians vote for. The voters replace the party member who doesn't toe the party line. But when political fever hits, politicians get concerned about not having voter turnout. Somehow, they reason that giving the other side what they want will prevent more of the other party's voters from turning out. It never does, but the politician feels emotional relief from controlling the outcome anyway.
Stephen Covey says we all begin with the end in mind. Republicans begin with the silent agreement that they will give liberals anything they want as long as they get something. What did we get these past 8 years? A Federal Do-Not-Call list, Afghanistan, and Saddam's head. The liberals got everything else, killed millions more children, talked down to us the entire time, and will soon ruin Iraq like they did Vietnam.
Republicans need to wake up. Liberals don't care if their president cheats~ on his wife. Liberals don't care if their president fires every U.S. attorney.
------------------------------------------------------
If I ever run for president, I will never put the GOP above America. Forget it. I will dare detractors to rally up their own agenda and vote for my rival. I will egg them on and on and on. I will pay for my rival's campaign with my campaign money. I will make~ everyone know that I am not afraid from the beginning.
And then...my campaign promises and slogans:
Vote for someone who cares about what you want. Vote for anyone but me.
Want someone in office who listens to you? Don't vote for me. Vote for my rival.
I don't really want this job. Vote for someone who does.
I don't fit in with Washington. Vote for someone who does.
Are you concerned about our nation's problems? I'm not. Vote for someone who is.
Want a professional? There's one running against me.
Where I stand on the issues:
I'm going to do everything my way, and you're going to like it. I'm not answering any questions about where I stand on issues. You'll find out where I stand the same way you find out where every other politician stands: when you get a fine or a tax for it.
Aww, don't get discouraged folks. I'll just tax oxygen. Things would be simpler that way, wouldn't it?
